Eye Doctor And Role of AI in seeking Eye-care

One must understand the eye consultation and surgery scenario. Most of the patient do not get the eye care or surgery on time out of fear.

Especially in the time of artificial intelligence the delay is further extended.

It used to be:
Problem ----> Home remedy ----> Doctor

But algorithm is not simple any more. It has become:
Problem ----> AI ----> Social media----> Websites ----> Home remedy ----> Doctor

The loop have been extended further. But AI never advises not to see your doctor after a delay. It only refines your tokens. If you keep on asking it keeps on answering.

The problem which started 1 month back, if it is painless, patient usually take 30 days to seek doctors advice. If it is a problem associated with pain then the timeline is around 3rd day in case of adults and 1-2 day incase of children.

This brings a challenge for the physician in the age of AI. Patient expectations are simple it should be a quick cure. However, this is not always the case. A problem which was brewing for many months may take a while, if it can be cured. Else we have to manage it . Eye doctor's job is to fix the vision completely with out any pain.

Problems like a floater which started a month back in a young patient may give an already anxious patient anxiety if the patient keeps on reading and consulting the AI. Then comes the next step of seeing the eye doctor and if doctor have many things on mind e.g. PVD, posterior uveitis it needs investigation before start of treatment.

Treatment sometimes is quick like sending a text and sometimes it takes time. The point i want to emphasize is that I am not advocating fear, I am suggesting that the loop of reaching the doctor have been prolonged which delays every thing till recovery.
